Tate Birches, London, England 20

Acrylic and Coloured Pencil on Indian Rag Paper    12 x 8 inches       2012

This is the final image in a series of 20 paintings that were begun  in London outside Tate Modern on August 14,2012. I started to draw at 6:45 pm and finished drawing at 10:00 pm, with no breaks. I was fascinated by the grove of Baltic Birch planted outside the Tate especially when the lights came on at 8: 30. I drew in graphite and after getting the composition down I took a photo of each scene for future reference. Then back in my studio in Montreal, using the photos as  memory aids, I competed the paintings using acrylic paint and coloured pencils. To view the entire series click on City Paintings in Categories to the right of the page.

  1. I like all of your “Birches” but my favorite is still the one your mother has! Nice to view on such a damp day.

    • Hi Sally,
Thank you for your kind comment.I plan to post many more paintings of Birch trees and I hope you will keep checking them out.
I’m also glad that my Mom found a friend at the residence. I hope you remain well.

      Peter
